Grubbs catalysts form a primary part of synthetic organic chemistry. These catalysts are carbene complexes consisting of transition metals and are utilized in olefin metathesis.

Alkenes combine with Grubbs catalyst to generate several products, and this process is termed olefin metathesis. Two or several alkenes are obtained as products in this particular reaction.
