In an algebraic expression, terms are separated by plus or minus signs.

To simplify the given expression $8s-4\left(2s+3\right)$, first use the distributive property to remove the parenthesis as follows

$\begin{array}{c}8s−4\left(2s+3\right)=8s−4â‹\dots \left(2s\right)−4â‹\dots \left(3\right)\\ =8s−8s−12\end{array}$

Now to simplify above expression further, group the like terms and combine them as shown below

$\begin{array}{c}8s−4\left(2s+3\right)=8s−8s−12\\ =\left(8−8\right)s−12\\ =\left(0\right)s−12\\ =−12\end{array}$

Thus, the simplified expression is $-12$.
