Alternatively, one could connect resistors in series to achieve the required values.

Power supply requirements are crucial when designing an op amp circuit. The power supply ensures the op amp operates correctly and provides the necessary voltage levels for amplification.

The minimum supply voltages must be calculated based on the amplified output voltage. For our inverting amplifier with a gain of \(-4\) and an input signal of \(2.5 \text{ V}\), the output is calculated using:\(V_{out} = A_v \times V_{in} = -4 \times 2.5 \text{ V} = -10 \text{ V}\)The power supply voltages need to be greater than the maximum amplitude of the output signal. Thus, voltages greater than \(\pm 10 \text{ V}\) are required for the circuit to prevent saturation. This ensures the op amp can deliver the desired output without distortion.

An ideal operational amplifier is a theoretical concept used in circuit analysis to simplify calculations. It assumes certain perfect characteristics that real-world op amps only approximate.

For an ideal op amp:

• Infinite input impedance, which means it draws no current from the input source.
• Zero output impedance, allowing it to deliver any amount of current to the load without affecting the output voltage.
• Infinite gain, meaning any small difference in voltage between its inputs results in a large output voltage.
• Perfectly balanced to create zero output voltage when the inputs are equal.

These assumptions make it easier to design and analyze amplifier circuits. However, in practice, some deviations from the ideal model occur, so real op amps are designed to approximate these ideal characteristics closely.
