The tens column is the second column from the right in a multi-digit number. It's the place value for the tens digit. For example, in the number 76, the tens column is occupied by the digit 7, representing 70 (or 7 tens).
After handling the units column, we move to the tens column. In this exercise, we add the digits in the tens column of both numbers and include the carried over number from the units column.
