Consecutive sides of the figure is perpendicular.

Now,

The total area of the figure –$\begin{array}{l}A=A_1+A_2+A_3\\ A=2y^2+8y^2+24y^2\\ A=34y^2\end{array}$

Therefore, the area of the figure $\left(A\right)=34y^2$
