Once you add fractions together, the next step is to simplify the resulting fraction if possible. Simplifying a fraction means reducing it to its simplest form, where the numerator and denominator have no common factors other than 1.

Let's say we added \(\frac{9}{24}\) and \(\frac{14}{24}\), resulting in \(\frac{23}{24}\). To check if this fraction can be simplified further, we examine the numerator (23) and denominator (24) for common factors.

Since the only common factor between 23 and 24 is 1, the fraction \(\frac{23}{24}\) is already in its simplest form.

Simplifying fractions makes them easier to work with and understand. It is crucial to always check if a fraction can be simplified after addition or any other operation.
