Hotspot eruptions are fascinating volcanic activities that occur far away from the edges of tectonic plates. Unlike most volcanoes that form at plate boundaries, these eruptions arise from hotspots—areas where plumes of super-heated rock rise from the deep mantel.
These plumes, once they reach the cooler, upper parts of the mantle, trigger melting. This melted rock or magma continues to rise until it breaks through the Earth's crust, leading to an eruption.

As these plumes surge upward, they maintain their heat due to the insulating properties of the surrounding mantle. When they get closer to the Earth's surface, their heat can form pockets of magma.
The formation of magma from a plume can lead to a variety of volcanic activities, such as the creation of oceanic islands or even contribute to continental volcanism, depending on where they reach the surface.
