Protectionism is defined as the policies of the government that limit international trade to help domestic firms and the economy. These policies are devised with a goal to upgrade economic activities within the domestic economy and can also be devised for safety or quality concerns.

1. Helping workers as a group -: when a trade happens, the average wages are increased. Even if some of the workers lose their jobs in the short run even it will happen. But in the long run, the wages of all the workers will increase because of this trade benefit so here the trade is considered the first alternative.

Protectionism is the second-best alternative because the producer may have to bear a loss of the resource that cannot be traded because of protectionist approach trade. These resources are helpful for the firms financially and efficiently and can be obtained only when we trade with another country because it may be possible that the other country may be specialized in producing that product and other countries may not.

2. Industry stays strong -: the pristine countries which came into existence need the most help from the government to compete in the market to be stable.

The competition makes one strong enough to compete and here if the companies are banned by some protectionist policies in trade it will weaken the firms and companies instead of strengthening them. Therefore, trade is necessary for brand new countries.

3. Environment protection -: environmental protection is the most important aspect in today鈥檚 world because of environmental costs, like atmosphere decline, pollution, etc. so every nation must have the responsibility to safeguard their environment.

The environment protection rules must be considered as a necessity than a burden. So, when trade is allowed, the most gaining output must be achieved at a lower cost while the environment will also be protected.

4. Advancing national defense -: the major difficulty of a country is that they must trade nationally and internationally since the trade may be a fear for their country's defense.

The countries which are strong traders keep them away from any wars as this will negatively affect their economy. And that鈥檚 why they live happily without the fear of war.
