Predatory pricing is an anti-competitive practice in which a firm sets prices below cost in order to eliminate competitors. Dumping is a similar practice where a firm sells its products at a lower price in a foreign market. Both practices aim to gain market share or establish a monopoly in the targeted market. A firm might use predatory pricing as motivation for dumping to weaken or eliminate foreign competitors, capture a larger market share, and later raise prices, ultimately earning higher profits. While this strategy may benefit the predatory firm, it can cause economic harm to the importing country's domestic industries, leading to unemployment, economic instability, and reduced innovation and product quality.
