Furthermore, for large transactions, the certification cost is elevated because all involved data needs locking and releasing at the transaction's end.

The Phantom Read phenomenon is a database anomaly that happens in concurrent transactions. It occurs when a transaction retrieves data twice, and on the second attempt, it finds new records that were inserted by another transaction but were not visible earlier.
This can cause issues in transaction consistency. As an example, consider retrieving a list of orders twice during a transaction. If another user adds an order in between, the second list might contain this new order, creating a discrepancy.
To mitigate phantom reads, isolation levels such as Serializable can be employed. This level locks the data set queried, preventing changes by other transactions until completion. While effective in avoiding anomalies like phantom reads, such high isolation levels might slow performance due to increased locking.
