While anti-aromatic compounds share some similarities with aromatic compounds, like being cyclic, planar, and having conjugation of \(\pi\) electrons, they differ dramatically when it comes to stability. Anti-aromatic compounds display instability due to their failure to comply with Hückel's Rule. Instead of satisfying \(4n+2\) for their \(\pi\) electrons, anti-aromatic compounds follow \(4n\).
