Acid rain is another example, resulting from primary pollutants sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides reacting with water vapor in the atmosphere to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These acids precipitate as rain, leading to soil and water acidification, affecting ecosystems negatively.
Understanding these atmospheric reactions helps scientists and policymakers devise effective solutions to minimize the impacts of pollution.
