The suspensory ligament, also known as the Zonule of Zinn, plays a crucial role in the anatomy of the human eye. It is not just a static structure but is essential for the dynamic process of vision. Conversely, when the muscle relaxes, increased tension on the ligaments helps the lens to become flatter, adjusting focus for distant objects.

The Zonule of Zinn is another name for the suspensory ligament, situated in the eye as part of its finely tuned focusing mechanism. Named after the anatomist Johann Gottfried Zinn, this structure consists of countless tiny fibers. These fibers extend from the ciliary body to the lens of the eye. The Zonules are arranged in a circular pattern, encircling the lens, thus providing an even attachment all around.
